Christy & Matt Featured in L.A. Weddings Magazine!
Christy & Matt had a fabulous wedding at the Nixon Library in Yorba Linda back in the fall of '06. So fabulous in fact, that L.A. Weddings decided to publish it! Details Details coordinated this event. I loved the colors... rich browns and reds. Perfect for fall! And Jules Bianchi... photographer extraordinaire, took these amazing photos. Check out more on her way cool blog. I'm going to have to encode their highlights for all of you to view. I don't think I ever got to blogging about this one! Shame on me!
Alicia & Tyler had a fabulous wedding at one of our most favorite venues ever... Trump National Golf Course. We do a fair amount of weddings there and it's always amazing. This venue has incredible views of the Pacific Ocean since it sits up high on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Carla Domen coordinated this event which means it was gorgeous and ran super smoothly! This bride and groom were so fun to work with. They met while playing in the marching band at the University of Michigan (hence the opening song in this video). They are super sweet and so excited to get married. Of course we also had a blast shooting alongside Victor Sizemore. Check out the photos on his blog. Congratulations Alicia & Tyler!

Someone on one of the videographer forums I frequent posted this link today... it's pretty cool (kinda cheesy titles and music but it has a good message.) Statistics have shown repeatedly that the #1 regret among brides is not getting a professional wedding videographer. I could go on and on about this topic (obviously) but will just let you enjoy this video instead. Personally, I'm not 100% convinced this is an off-the-cuff video, but what is said in the video we hear all the time. In fact, a large percentage of our clients come to us because their newly married friends who decided to forego a professional video (assuming that video is not important and is cheesy) said it was a huge mistake, and thus we have couples hiring sometimes even before their venue! Anyway, here it is:

For those of you who know me well, you'll know that I'm an emotional person... I think that's one reason why I'm good at what I do. But anyway, I'm editing away today while watching the live coverage of the funeral for Officer Simmons... the first L.A. SWAT officer to die in the line of duty in the history of the dept. Read HERE for more details... it is really sad. I think the funeral procession started a couple hours ago with streets lined w/police officers from ALL OVER THE WORLD saluting. Pretty amazing. Then the bagpipes started playing as the coffin was brought in and I almost lost it.
Anyway, so then I had to run to the bank and was listening to KNX (it's either techno or 80's in the car on Sirius or KNX cuz I love to listen to news. I know. Weird.) And there is a "Character Counts" commentary everyday. As a former teacher, this really touched my heart and also is such a great message:
Todd was a sadly quiet 11-year-old struggling to adjust to the death of his mother. His father had left long ago, and Todd was living with an aunt who made it known she resented the responsibility.
On several occasions, his teacher Sheryl heard his aunt tell him, "If it weren’t for my generosity, you’d be a homeless orphan."
Sheryl took extra pains to make Todd feel valued in class and encouraged his interest in making things. Just before Christmas break, Todd shyly presented her with a small decorated box he’d made.
"It’s beautiful!" Sheryl gushed.
Todd replied, "There’s something special inside that my mom gave me before she died. She said it’s the one thing I can give and still have plenty left over. It helps you feel better when you’re sad and safe when you’re scared."
As Sheryl started to open the box, Todd warned her, "Oh, you can’t see it."
"Well, what is it?" Sheryl asked kindly.
"It’s love. You’re the first person since my mom that I love."
Sheryl hugged Todd tightly and said, "I’ll treasure this forever. It’s the best gift I ever got."
She kept it on her desk until she retired and touched it whenever she was sad or scared. It never failed to make her heart smile.
Years later, Todd sent her the tassel he wore during his graduation from medical school. It’s been in the box ever since.
In truth, love -- not diamonds -- is the gift that keeps on giving. What’s more, love generates itself. The more you give away, the more you have left.

Shannan & Ron are made for each other and their wedding was so fun to shoot! The day was a blast... especially because we were able to shoot alongside Boutwell Studio! (Check out the pics on their Blog). I loved this couple's color scheme... loads of reds and oranges. BEAUTIFUL! This was my first time shooting at Verandas and that place is so cool! It's a very versatile and gorgeous location. Thanks for including us in your special day Shannan & Ron! You guys are the best!
