Before I head home for the day I wanted to blog this Arthouse Edit! We filmed two days of Naseem and Shaffiq's multi-day event. It was so beautiful and they were so fun to work with! This was a very different Indian wedding for me with many traditions I had never seen before. That's why I love weddings... each one is so unique!! Of course my eyes were glued to Naseem's sari (when I get to wear one? They are so beautiful!) We were able to work with our dear friend Paul Gero who took some seriously gorgeous photographs. Check out his blog because he actually covered all four days of their event. We had amazing light at the Diamond Bar Center for the formals on the wedding day and got some great stuff! Of course my favorite part of an Indian event is the dancing. I love the music and I love how EVERYONE is on the dancefloor till the very end!!
Alex and I are not your typical tourists. We stay away from cheesy t-shirts and magnets and just like to keep real authentic pieces from our journeys as souvenirs. I just wanted to share a couple items from my recent travels. The first is the lovely Anguilla Drivers License. You have to pay $20 to drive there and check out the only rule. I was cracking up when I saw it!! Anguilla is a British territory hence the drive on the left thing.
And the next is a bill from Qatar. I love currencies from other countries... especially when I can't even recognize letters!!
Yes... the blog is indeed alive! Just got back from Anguilla where we filmed a really beautiful wedding for an amazing couple! First of all, any of you engaged couples looking to find a place for a destination wedding, or a truly awesome honeymoon - you have to look into Anguilla! It is a small Caribbean island - only 32 square miles. It has the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen (even better than Boracay in the Philippines) and what I love about it is that it embodies the essence of the region. No American chains (hotels or restaurants) and everything is small and spread out. You truly feel like you are in paradise! The main venue for the wedding was a hotel called Cap Juluca. Absolutely stunning property!
But enough about the location! Ashley & Jamie were so fun to hang out with and they were so welcoming to us and so were their family and friends. What made filming this event even more amazing is that we were able to work with a spectacular team from Boston. Matt & Enna Grazier actually referred us this wedding and we because great friends with them during the trip. They are so incredibly talented and super nice & easy to work with. I'm sure they'll have photos on their blog soon so be sure to check back often. Alexis from Weddings by Alexis was the coordinator for this multi-day extravaganza. She did a fabulous job and I'm glad she got to enjoy the beach with us and the Grazier's on Monday because she worked her butt off and I think had her cell phone permanently attached to her ear during those days.
All in all, it was an absolutely amazing experience and Ashley & Jamie showed so much generosity not only to their guests but to us too. They were so laid back and constantly asking us, "How are you doing? Are you having fun? We want you to enjoy yourself while your here!" I'm like, "Are you kidding me? First of all, my work is fun and it makes it even MORE fun being here with you guys!"
Check out their Same Day Edit below which I pulled together really quickly (wish I had had more time). I can't wait to share the full edit when it's done because we shot a day after session with the Grazier's and got some amazing stuff.
And I just have to share this quick shot. See... Anguilla is such a small island that they only have a teeny airport. It's actually easiest if you fly into St. Maarten and then either take a ferry over (which is more like a Miami Vice speed boat... fun but kind of scary at the same time) or take a charter flight. On the way over we took the ferry, but our flight on the way back from St. Maarten was so early that we had to book a charter flight because the ferry didn't run that early in the morning. When we got to the plane (a little 6 seater prop plane) I asked the pilot if he could do a fly-by of Cap Juluca and he replied "sure 'mon!" So we were able to get some really killer aerial footage - a first in Elysium's history! This clip is totally raw (not color corrected or anything) but had to share because I'm so excited about it!
And here's a little Blog Contest... can you guess what Ashley does for a living? Wedding guests... you're not allowed to guess!
It seems like yesterday when Kyle met Adam. I remember her coming into the office everyday full of smiles! Then I found out it was just because she loves working for Elysium :) All joking aside, Kyle truly found her soulmate and we are so happy for her!! Their very intimate wedding took place in the Bahamas right before Christmas. Victor Sizemore took the pics and they are awesome! Kyle... you were a gorgeous bride!! CONGRATULATIONS YOU TWO!
Janey & Mark's Arthouse Edit from the Four Seasons Santa Barbara
Oh how I love this edit! We were honored when Mary Jane asked us to film her wedding, and so excited about how it turned out. This video is amazing because of all the awesome footage we captured - namely the audio. I am a total sap and love emotional weddings - this one had really touching words during the ceremony and the toasts, and basically all throughout the day. As Jasmine* put it in her post, there were loads of tears and laughter, and then more tears and laughter! So without further delay.... enjoy!!
P.S. For best viewing, press play then immediately press pause. Let the video load most of the way before starting.
Gail & Nemo's Arthouse Edit from the Hyatt Huntington Beach
You may remember Gail & Nemo from an earlier post, but I'm so excited to share their Arthouse Edit! This wedding was spectacular because a) the couple was AWESOME, b) we had an awesome team to work with, c) the color palate was super unique, and d) there were some amazing cultural touches at this wedding! All in all it was pretty spectacular. The awesome team I was referring to consisted of wedding coordinator extraordinaire Michelle from Details Details, Sunny from White Lilac who did the decor, and Triplecord Photography who took the fabulous photos!
